Children’s & Young People's Counselling in Malvern

As a specialist in children's emotional support, with over three decades of expertise and experience working with children, I am pleased to offer individual counselling to children and young people. Fees are £60 per session. I have one space left on a Monday at 4:15 (as of June 2025)

The Benefits of Counselling for Children
Grief, loss, change, phobias, bulling happens to children too. The impact of these significant life events are often particularly overwhelming for children and can affect their ability to cope at school, build friendships, or enjoy daily life and even their future mental well-being. I am here to support your child or teen to ensure that the impact of these is minimised and your child empowered to work through the things that upset or trouble them.
Working with me, your child can:
-
Understand and process their feelings;
-
Build resilience and confidence to solve problems they face;
-
Improve relationships and communication;
-
Regulate their fears, phobias, overwhelm or grief.
How I Support Children
In my sessions, I create a warm, supportive space for children to feel heard and understood. I use a variety of creative and interactive methods to help children engage, including creative activities like story, puppets and art as well as talking therapy. I teach child-friendly emotional regulation strategies where appropriate (such as using EFT, breathwork and mindfulness for children). Children have space for us to talk together and explore their experiences, their loss, allowing questions and explaining things in appropriate ways. Where appropriate I can also share CBT approaches and work with phobias to help reduce anxiety or coach children to find effective ways to communicate.

Why Choose Me?
-
I have worked with children and young people for 30 years prior to retraining as a counsellor. Many of my roles involved offering specialist advice and support to children, families, school staff and even head teachers on supporting young people with emotional difficulties and who were sometimes at risk of exclusion or out of school. I have a Master's degree in working with children with additional needs so I can cater for neurodivergent children too.
-
I understand that every child and family is unique, and I adapt my methods to suit your family's needs.
-
I aim to provide long-lasting emotional benefits that can help your child thrive.
-
I am compassionate and approachable.
-
But mostly because children love my two little dogs who will happily join the session if welcomed and permitted by yourself and your child.
-
I only work face to face with children, with a guardian on site, waiting in the next room or in the session if children and families prefer this, to ensure everyone always feels safe and confident.
